About

This five-day course with a one-day follow-up provides a thorough grounding in the theory and application of personality assessment. It includes specific training on the MBTI® and 16PF® personality questionnaires with time to practice administration and feedback.

It is suitable for:

• Practitioners who already hold the British Psychological Society (BPS) Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing (Level A) or equivalent, who wish to use personality questionnaires in their work

Steps to successful completion of the programme:

• Show understanding of the main points by passing assessments and exercises given at intervals during the course
• Demonstrate competence in practical work and fieldwork
• Attend the follow-up day

Content

• General grounding in personality theory and assessment
• In-depth training in the MBTI Step I and 16PF instruments
• Questionnaire administration and scoring
• Construction of the questionnaires
• Reliability and validity
• Interpretation and feedback of results
• Application of the questionnaires in organisations
• Ethical issues

This course involves evening work. Following the training you will need to complete fieldwork set by your trainer, to complete the qualification, which you will discuss on the follow-up day. This will take place about seven weeks after the initial training.

Prerequisites

Ahead of the course, the following should be completed:

• British Psychological Society's Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing (Level A) or equivalent
• Work through study materials, covering the basic concepts in personality assessment, and introductions to the MBTI Step I and 16PF instruments
• Complete the MBTI Step I and 16PF questionnaires and receive feedback on the MBTI instrument from a qualified user. We can arrange this at OPP or provide details of local practitioners
