Psychometric instruments - MBTI®

The most widely used personality assessment

The MBTI questionnaire provides a highly insightful framework for individual and group development, provoking self-awareness by looking at how a person perceives the world and how they prefer to interact with others. The MBTI tool sorts individuals into psychological 'types' so that they can identify how they are similar to some people and different to others, and how they can improve their working and personal relationships in a positive and constructive way.

Accessible yet incisive

Those who use the questionnaire find it easy to grasp, insightful and thought-provoking, whether they are running or participating in an MBTI development session. People often experience ‘light bulb moments’ as they gain an understanding of their own and others’ psychological type.

The constructive use of differences

Because the MBTI tool provides a common language for appreciating interpersonal differences, many organisations make it their instrument of choice across their development programmes. For individuals, to be able to safely explore their understanding of themselves as they relate to the world and to others can be life-transforming.

A solid research foundation keeps it relevant

The MBTI instrument is based on Carl Jung's theory of psychological type, and was developed by mother and daughter team Isabel Briggs Myers and Katharine Cook Briggs over 50 years ago. Their life’s work was to continually enhance the content and applicability of the indicator, and their writings on type and self-development remain utterly resonant today, both in professional and personal life. A vibrant community of enthusiastic practitioners continue this work, constantly generating fresh ideas, research and resources for new users.
