OPP consultancy is known in the market for our innovative approaches to development solutions, but we also provide quality solutions in assessment and in-depth team development. We currently have roles at Principal and Senior level and would be particularly interested in talking to you if you have experience of developing leaders in organisations.
Job title: Principal Consultant
The key areas of focus for this job are:
- to develop the consultancy business alongside our professional sales team
- to deliver insightful and high quality consultancy to all levels, particularly at senior levels within organisations
- to project manage client projects and to act as sponsor to less experienced consultants on client work
Business Development
In this role you need to understand the strategic aims and challenges of clients and have the ability to link our approaches to these. This requires sound technical knowledge and experience as well as a credible presence.
You will be expected to take the lead in the preparing proposals and managing the bid process. Attending client meetings and presentations alone or with the account manager is also required.
Direct client work
Our principal consultants work with clients to diagnose their issues and scope appropriate interventions. The focus is predominantly on delivery of middle to senior level development and team development.
Project Management and Sponsorship
As a project manager you will be expected to have the organisational and communication skills required to ensure that projects run effectively and smoothly, with the aim of delighting the clients. This part of the role involves effective communication with people within OPP and with associates and the client. As a project sponsor, you will have responsibility for assisting less experienced consultants in managing their client projects. This can range from brainstorming ideas to attending client meetings.
Contributing as a team member
Our team of people is predominantly home based, so we all take on key tasks for the team. This can include sharing of knowledge and experience at our monthly team meetings, contributing to marketing and PR activities or taking on a mentoring role for other consultants.
If you join us, you will be given training in all of OPP's tools, with further in-depth workshops available. We also provide opportunities for further development and most of our consultants have further qualifications in coaching. This year we have also commissioned an in-house programme for our development in Advanced Facilitation Skills.
Essential Competencies
- Chartered Occupational Psychologist or eligible for Chartership of BPS or equivalent post graduate qualification
- Level A and B qualified, with experience of using psychometrics
- Wide ranging and in depth business development experience: following BD processes; following up leads, exploring client needs, preparing and presenting proposals; attending sales calls and presentations and closing consultancy sales at senior management level. Value at least £100-500K)
- Track record of credibility in delivering a wide range of business psychology consulting solutions and applying psychometric tools and techniques to a broad range of clients in organisations, including senior management level.
- Design and delivery of innovative and tailored consultancy solutions without supervision on medium to large projects (e.g. leadership development, team building, AC/DC, team/group facilitation one to one coaching
- Hands on experience of managing multiple complex client projects supervising Associates and other internal consultants (100- 500K)
- Expertise in one of the following: Leadership, Teams, Talent Acquisition and Management
- Ability to travel frequently within the UK and Europe and attend client premises
