OPP® - international business psychology consultancy

Our story

OPP Limited (originally called Oxford Psychologists Press Limited) began trading on 1 January 1989, although the business had existed as a consultancy on a much smaller scale for many years before that, using psychometric tests in its work.

“OPP has a fantastic reputation within the occupational psychology field for being market leaders in management and team development”

In the late 1980s, the present OPP Chairman, Dr Robert McHenry, succeeded in winning the UK distribution rights for several major US psychometric questionnaires, and OPP was set up as the company that would market and sell the products, and provide high-quality training in their use.

For the first 11 years, OPP occupied leased offices at Lambourne House on the Banbury Road in Oxford. However, in 2000, the company invested in the lease on Elsfield Hall, and undertook an extensive renovation programme in order to produce the modern, spacious offices we now see.

In addition, the year 2001 saw an important shift in OPP's business focus, as new rights by OPP’s licensors enabled expansion into European markets. OPP therefore now has a number of international country offices and distribution partners. Further international expansion was achieved in 2003 when we purchased IPAT in the USA, and acquired the international rights to a range of prestigious personality questionnaires, including the 16PF instrument.

From these small beginnings, OPP has developed to become a medium-sized company with a multi-million pound turnover and ambitious plans for the future. We are currently one of Europe’s leading business psychology consultancies, and work in more than 25 countries with many multinational organisations (including more than half of the FTSE 100 companies).

OPP is proud to hold the Investor in People Award
